Many historical subjects concerning in the Gulf region have contained political، economic and social matters in accurate specialty without shedding lights on the successive social customs which were notably known with the peoples of the Gulf. Those customary traditions seem to be too much prominent in the behaviors، fashions and the daily life relationships.
Searching in such a subject has faced so many difficulties such as the unavailability of real living among the society of Qatar that such a topic entails and the lack of the resources that specified in the Gulf traditions. Therefore we have depended upon few references majoring in the Gulf and Qatar's customary affairs such as:- "Altuhfa Al bahiia Fi Al Aadaab Wa Al Aadaat Al Qatariia" by Yosif Abd Alrahmaan Al Kaliifi، "Al Ugniia Al Shaabiia Fi Qatar" by Muhammad Talib Salman Al Dwaik and "Al Kaleej Al Arabi Fi Madiih Wa Hadhirih" by Kalid Al Izi. So the research has get used of many other secondary references could be shown in the footnotes page.
Having stiffed out the nature of the subject we obliged to search in accordance with the following hypotheses:-
Does the traditions of Qatar represent formula of the multi racial societies? Were those customs cited of tribal traditions rather than of the Islam teachings? And did these customs solidly stand out in the face of the wind change brought out by the tide of the western civilizations?
Really the subject has been divided into two main topics the first included those firm traditions and habits in view of the nature of the topic period that end in 1913 as there were none of achievements and cultural deeds until the era of the Sheik Abdula Bin Kasim(1913-1949) who started an active stage of reforms and building of the country sectors. In that، most of the habits remained in a form of social and political solidarity as the customs hospitality، the conservation، the garb of the woman and the Sheikdom chair.
While the second topic has seeked those customs in their transitional stagesbeginning with reign of the country civilization in age of the previously mentioned prince.
In fact these transformational habits could be deeply seen in the marriages when the Qataris started engaging foreign ladies from Egypt، Iraq or Yemen as a fact expensive dowry and the increasing female births as compared with male ones. It is at last، may be said that the feature of the conservation remained more strong than that of the transition and change.
